Women's Bible STudy

Have you wondered what the Bible is about, but not sure where to begin?  Or perhaps, you are a long time student of God’s Word, but looking for a place to connect with others who desire to grow deeper in their walk with God too?
Sunset offers a weekly bible study for women of all ages and life stages the opportunity to grow deeper in their understanding of His Word. Our Bible study offers a place to wrestle with the tough questions, grow in our relationship with Christ, learn how to live out our faith in real life, and connect with other women in meaningful conversations about things that matter.
Come as you are. Ask questions, or sit quietly…we look forward to journeying alongside you.

NOTE – if you already registered in the fall and have been attending, you do NOT need to register again.
Two options available to fit your schedule:
Tuesdays, 9:30-11:30am, in the Gymnasium
The morning begins with coffee and a large group teaching time, and concludes in small groups where we encourage discussion, community and prayer. Kid’s Club is available for ages 0-5.

Sunset MOMS

Welcome to the Tribe: Enough. Because He’s enough.

Join us the 1st, 3rd and 5th Thursdays 9:30-11:30am starting September 15th.

Sometimes getting someplace on time is all we can do.  It may mean we arrive in sweats with our hair looking like a hot mess but at least all our kids are accounted for. Or it may mean we are put together, the kids are decently dressed and we actually show up early. Whatever it may be, Moms group is the place for you.  We are all moms; moms with newborns, toddlers, school age kids or a mix of these doing “mom life” and trying to figure things out.  Our meetings are about adult conversations with other moms, sharing our ups and downs, supporting each other through prayer and encouragement, sharing breakfast and coffee, and listening to a variety of speakers touching on marriage, children, and ourselves.
We invite you to come check us out.  Give us a try and see if Sunset Moms is the right group for you.  We hope that it is!
Cost is $50. Childcare is available for an additional cost

GPS Singles

GPS is a community for Single Adults (never married, divorced or widowed) ages 35-55 who want to grow spiritually, enjoy recreation and social activities and serve others together. No, we won’t “card you” if you are a year or two older or younger but we do ask that you respect our desire to be a community that ministers to the needs of people in that general age range.
We encourage Christ-like behavior and expect both men and women to treat one another as brothers and sisters in Christ, respect boundaries and encourage group friendships before pursuing a dating relationship.
(If you are currently separated and not divorced yet, we encourage you to take the time to heal and move through the divorce before joining a singles community)

Care Groups

God is not simply saving individuals, but he is creating a family where relationships deeply matter.  We desire that all people live in an authentic faith community that fosters a vibrant and deepening relationship with God.
One of the primary ways we build relationships and cultivate fellowship with each other here is through a network of small groups—what we call “Care Groups". While we are joined to all believers in the local church, Care Groups allow us to relate more deeply with a small number of people.

Start a group:  to start a group, contact our Care Group leadership team to learn about Sunset groups and to sign up for an upcoming leader training group.  Then, gather a group of people – family members, friends from Sunset, co-workers, neighbors and get started!  We also provide training for individuals who are willing to meet and shepherd new people who are looking for a group.

MENs Ministry

Sunset recognizes that Christian men often have difficulty forming strong relationships with other Christian men. It is evident from the Bible (e.g., Proverbs 27:16-18; Ecclesiastes 4:12), as well as Jesus’ lifestyle, that such interactions are essential. We all can lighten our struggles by sharing with others (Galatians 6:2). Sunset offers a variety of activities for men at all levels of spiritual maturity as well as outreach events for their friends. If you are not connected with other Christian men, try one or more of these groups and find your community at Sunset.

Saturdays 7 - 8:30 am
Men gather at Sunset to study God’s Word and its application to their lives around a hearty breakfast ($3) and great fellowship. Candid open debate and discussion are encouraged as these men build stronger relationships with God and other men. Some of the men remain in impromptu groups and continue their dialogue at the conclusion of the formal meeting.

Fridays 6:30 - 7:30 am, Village Inn in Beaverton
Our focus is to understand better and apply the Sunday message to our life - this includes Bible study, prayer, fellowship and care for each other. The discussion leadership is rotated between several of the regular attendees. There are currently about ten men regularly attending, but this is an open group, and all men are welcome. This men's group had been meeting for several years and strives to help men continue to grow as followers of Jesus.

Wednesdays 10:30 am - Noon
Righteous brothers, men over 60, meet each Wednesday from 10:30 am –12:00. The first half hour is fellowship and from 11:00 am to noon is Bible study. Approximately 8 - 14 men attend. This is a great place for men to connect and form a strong bond with other Christian men.

There are several groups of 5 - 8 men who meet regularly to grow in relationships with other men and God. The fellowship of other Christian men is a gift God wants to place in each man’s life for strength, encouragement, and protection. These groups meet at various locations weekday mornings or evenings.

Half of all men involved in church struggle with sexual purity issues. They fear to share this battle with their church leadership and community and so they live in daily shame, pain, and isolation –letting this addiction destroy their marriage and family. This is too big of a problem to ignore. FMO works with numerous churches and is making a difference. Hundreds of men have experienced change through Jesus' healing power. We meet in highly confidential small groups to encourage each other and to honestly share our struggles.

Young Adults

Sunset is focused on helping young adults connect with others in God’s Word and intentionally be the Church through involvement with Care Groups and the Church body.

Care Groups

Groups gather in a church member’s home and in the community regularly and are great for fellowship and discipleship. Groups range from specific to gender to mixed gender.

E-mail Rick Terletzky to join a group that is right for you. rickterletzky@sunsetpres.org

During the summer we do a variety of activities that take place to engage those returning from college. We also create a summer package, "LightBox", that includes material for you to explore Christ’s calling for you during your personal time. Talk to someone at the Next Steps Counter or contact Rick to get more information.

Sonshine Treasures

The mission of Sonshine Treasures is to share God's love with people who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and to equip them to become active participants in the Family of God, the church.

Sonshine Treasures is a uniquely designed Sunday School class for individuals with special needs, ages 12 and older.

Sonshine Treasures meets from 11 a.m. to noon every Sunday in the Fellowship Hall of Sunset Presbyterian Church.  Volunteers greet members as they are dropped off by Tri-Met lift buses, group home staff, or parents.

Members who choose to go to the Sanctuary join the Congregation in singing worship and praise songs.  Following this time, class members return to the classroom where they enjoy more singing, celebrate birthdays, have a snack, share prayer requests, and hear Bible stories from both the Old and New Testaments.  When the Congregation celebrates Communion our class also participates.

Individuals who are interested in the Sonshine Treasure Ministry, either to volunteer, or for more information about this special ministry, are encouraged to call Jackie Davidson at 503-645-1611
