Connect Groups meet throughout the summer and focused around an activity. Connect Groups are a great way to live in an authentic faith community that fosters a vibrant and deepening relationship with God.

  • RUNNING, RUNNING, RUNNING

    Wednesdays –  6/27, 7/11, 7/18, 7/25, 8/1, 8/15

    All ages welcome. Multiple pace groups (but NOT a walking group) running on pavement and trails. Meet at the church at 7:00 pm. We are looking at doing a race in early Sept, details TBA.

  • Beth Moore Bible Study

    Wednesdays – 7/11, 7/25, 8/8, 8/22, 10:00 am – Noon, Choir Room OR

    7:00 - 9:00 pm, Fireside Room

    The group will delve into the "Loving Well" study designed to help us embrace the biblical mandate to love and to develop skills for loving others. Same content/study with each week's morning and evening sessions. Your leaders are Alicia Eddens and Sue Dowty. They look forward to leading you through this study about how to love well.

  • PORTLAND CITY WALKS

     

    Saturdays – 7/7, 7/14, 7/21, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

    THIS WAS A POPULAR CONNECT GROUP AND THUS UNFORTUNATELY NEEDED TO CLOSE REGISTRATION DUE TO THE NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS

    Join us for one or more leisurely walks through some great Portland neighborhoods as we learn about the social history, architecture and geology of the area. Bring a picnic lunch or opt to eat out after. 

    When you sign up you will get a confirmation email with info about where to meet for the first walk and then more details will follow about the other walks in reminder emails as we get closer to those dates. 
    All walks are will start at 10:00 am and end at approximately 1:00 pm. 

    July 7 – Multnomah Village, 3 miles |  This family-friendly walk will take us through Gabriel Park. We'll also traverse some back streets and the main street of the village, including a stop at the Multnomah Arts Center.

    July 14 – Mt. Tabor, 4.25 miles  |  We'll wind our way through the neighborhoods before ascending the flanks of Mt. Tabor. At the top, we'll admire the beautiful viewpoint, test the acoustics in the volcanic amphitheater and maybe even try out the swings! Our return trip down the other side of the park will make this a total 4.25-mile walk. 

    July 21 – Arlington Heights/Washington Park, 3.5 miles  |  We'll admire some eclectic architecture and beautiful homes in Arlington Heights before spending the majority of our walk in the lower part of Washington Park viewing the Rose Garden, Children's Playground, Elephant House, reservoirs and the Holocaust Memorial. 
    Be prepared for stairs! 

     
  • GARDEN LOVERS TOUR

    Thursdays – 7/5, 7/12, 7/19, 7:00 – 8:30 pm

    Join other garden lovers as we visit the gardens of people from our church. More details regarding the locations will be sent with your registration confirmation email.


    July 5 – Suburban Splendor  |  Wander through several garden "rooms" and admire an amazing water feature.

    July 12 – An Inherited Garden  |  This Skyline country garden delights with hydrangeas galore and so much more.

    July 19 – TBD  |  We were unable to find another host, so no tour will be taking place this Thursday. Contact Anne Owen at annemowen1@comcast.net if you are interested in hosting next year!

  • motorcycle day trip rides

    Want to get away with other Sunset motorcyclists? We will gather at the church and head to Mt. St. Helen's on July 14th and the Oregon coast on August 11th.

    A time for families with preschool-age children and under to get together for a time of play! Hosted by Preschool Director, Melissa Andersen.

    Saturday –  7/14, 1:00 –  4:00 pm, Fireside Room

    Join Carol Carson as she helps you make a fused-glass bird for atop a garden stake. No prior experience necessary. She'll have examples of some designs to inspire you. Cost: $20.

  • HOOPS TIME

    Tuesdays– 7/24, 8/7, 1:30 – 3:00 pm, Gym

    Calling all basketball players of all ages for some time on the court here at the SPC gym. Refreshments provided. 

  • BINGE ON THE BIBLE

    Wednesdays – 7/18 – 8/8, 6:00 – 9:00 pm, Student Center

    Get lost in the story of God's redemptive work in the world as we binge watch the Bible Project Videos. We'll go through the Old Testament the first two nights and the New Testament the last two nights.


  • PICKLEBALL AT THE PARK

    Tuesdays – 7/24, 10 - 11:30 am; 7/31, 7:00 - 8:30 pm, 8/7, 10 - 11:30 am

    Pickleball is a paddle sport (similar to a racquet sport) that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Two or four players use solid paddles made of wood or composite materials to hit a ball, similar to a wiffle ball, over a net. 


    Whether you're a novice, played as a kid at camp, or can teach us a thing or two, we'd love to have you come play! Nets, paddles, and balls provided.

    We'll be playing on reserved courts at THPRD's Ridgewood View Park.


    Come once or every time.
