We believe God has given Sunset a unique opportunity to have both a spiritual and humanitarian impact in the Peace Villages of Uganda.  Nearly 50,000 Karamojong are living in the Peace Villages established by Dr Val and local tribal leaders.  There is great potential through discipleship and investing in supporting education, health and clean water in partnership with CLIDE to make an eternal impact in their community.

Dr Val & Dr Moses

Over the past 30 years, Dr Val Shean, one of our Partners in Missions has ministered in Eastern Uganda and over time she raised up a local Ugandan leader, Dr Moses, who is now the Director of CLIDE, the non-profit Dr Val established.  Sunset’s goal is that in the next 10 years Dr Moses and CLIDE will be self-sufficient and no longer on financial investments from the United States.

UGanda: Timothy Student Retreat

AUGUST 16-29, 2020

Twelve years ago, Sunset missionary Dr. Val launched the Timothy Project to financially support children so that they could attend school.  Most of the early students were orphans, taken off the streets of Kampala. Over the years many of these students have graduated from university or trade school.  Many have gone on the be teachers, nurses, pastors and business leaders.

Each year the 100+ students in the program gather in Soroti for a 5 day “spiritual retreat”.  41 of these students are being supported by Sunset families. Mike and Gail Hildenbrand will be leading the team to minister to the students.  We are hoping that a number of Sunset families will join us on this team.

This is an excellent way to get acquainted with Uganda.  We will be staying in a very nice guest house in town.  During the day we will be with the students in a retreat center engaging with them in a variety of ways.  We will also be part of a “goat distribution” at a nearby village.  This is a fun and inspiring introduction to Ugandan village life.  In addition, we will make a day trip to the Nakayot Peace Village where you will be able to see first-hand the various projects Sunset has had part in over the last few years.

Upcoming Events

Hang tight while we look up scheduled events...

On trips team members make daily blog posts to keep everyone up--to-date with the activity of the group. It is also fun to look back at past trips to see what God has done.
